Colleague shortlisted for prestigious award by the Royal College of Midwives

Congratulations to Sarah Hookes who has been shortlisted by the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) in the Midwives' Midwife of the Year category as part of their annual awards ceremony.

Sarah, Senior Safety & Learning Advisor within NWSSP Welsh Risk Pool Services, has been recognised for her outstanding achievements in midwifery that has included teamwork and evidence-based practice projects, whilst making a positive impact on women, families and their newborns, showcasing world-class midwifery standards.

Sarah Hookes Sarah said; “I am honoured and delighted to find myself shortlisted for the RCM Midwife of the Year Award 2021. To say I was shocked to even be nominated is an understatement! There are so many incredible midwives in the NHS doing amazing things so to think that my contribution has been recognised is humbling.

“Leading the PROMPT Wales programme has been the pinnacle of my career but follows 20 very happy and fulfilling years as a clinical midwife, and 5 as a Professional Development Midwife at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Implementing PROMPT Wales, with the support of our organisation, has been a truly collaborative experience involving colleagues from all NHS Wales maternity services. However, the contribution of our midwives Jane Storey (my nominator - thank you Jane!) and Sarah Morris cannot go unrecognised. We are very excited to be attending the Awards Ceremony on 27th October!”

The winner will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at The Brewery, London on the 27th October 20021. We wish Sarah the very best of luck.
