Sarah Morris

Sarah Morris is a trained midwife/nurse for Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB and seconded part time to the Welsh Risk Pool in the position of PROMPT Wales National Midwife, supporting local teams with the sustainability and quality assurance of PROMPT Wales training nationally. Sarah started her journey with the PROMPT Wales team as the Implementation Midwife in 2018, supporting teams to embed the training into their mandatory training programmes. Whilst at Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB, Sarah works as a Practice Development Midwife leading on PROMPT Wales training across the Health Board.

Sarah qualified as an Adult Nurse in 2006 whereby she worked within a variety of settings in Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB – stroke rehab, palliative care and went onto qualify as a midwife in 2011. Sarah started her midwifery years at Cardiff & Vale UHB as a rotational Band 6 Midwife and completed the Neonatal & Behavioural Examination course. Prior to leaving UHW Sarah loved working on the alongside midwifery led unit. Since 2014, Sarah has been based at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil (PCH). Sarah has undertaken many roles, firstly as a band 6 then as a band 7 labour ward co-ordinator as well as a Birth Choice midwife. Sarah enjoyed her role as an Obs Cymru Champion which was a national research project across Wales. Her role was to help collect data and promote awareness of the Obs Cymru initiative for 1000 Lives within Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.

During Sarah’s time with Welsh Risk Pool and the PROMPT Wales National Team, Sarah has developed a vast amount of networking skills across NHS Wales, developing relationships with multi-professionals across the maternity setting. This has allowed collaboration especially with Practice Development Midwives to share learning and ideas for development. Sarah with Sarah Hookes successfully led the development and roll out of the Community PROMPT Wales training. Sarah has supported Welsh Risk Pool in other aspects such as conducting a national audit on the All Wales Intrapartum Fetal Surveillance Standards. Sarah also enjoys attending the Welsh Risk Pool Learning Advisory Panels and supporting the team.

In 2020, Sarah gained her Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education at University of South Wales and is currently undertaking her Masters in Professional Practice at USW.

During Sarah’s spare time she is a Lash Technician whereby she has a range of clientele. Sarah’s hobbies are spending time with her husband and daughter Amelia. She loves going on holidays and going to music festivals as well as spending time in her campervan.
