Meet the Team - Commercial Team

 

Commercial TeamThe Commercial, Regulatory and Procurement Team are an ever growing team currently consisting of 5 solicitors, Andrew, Marcia, Leanne, Laura and Daniel.

The team deal with a range of queries from clients within the health boards, covering procurement advice, contracts queries/disputes, regulatory law, judicial reviews and commissioning/ funding disputes.

Senior solicitor Andrew Evans brings 28 year’s experience working in local authority and government commercial and procurement law departments having joined the team in May 2017. Marcia Donovan, who started in September 2018 as a senior solicitor, has 12 years working in procurement law and contract experience, having previously worked in local government.  Andrew and Marcia work closely with the procurement department in NWSSP and have recently been delivering training to procurement departments within the health boards across Wales. Out of the office, Andrew can often be found supporting live music and on the occasional trip to the theatre. Marcia enjoys swimming and Pilates in her spare time and is kept busy in an active role as Governor for a local High School.

Laura Johnson and Leanne Fowler both joined Legal & Risk Services as paralegals in 2013 and 2014 respectively, and both secured positions within the team after completing their training contracts. Laura and Leanne mainly deal with regulatory queries and have built strong relationships with their clients in the Health Boards and Trusts having gained extensive experience of the inner workings of NHS Wales.  Away from the office Leanne enjoys a spot of fine dining and watching the latest touring musicals. Laura is currently on maternity leave and will be back with the team later this year.

Daniel Gandy joined the team in March 2018 having previously worked for the Clinical Negligence Team in Legal & Risk Services. Dan has been dealing with a variety of work since joining the team, assisting the senior solicitors with GDPR training and procurement challenges, and providing advice on powers/duties and freedom of information. In his spare time Dan likes to venture out on his mountain bike and is very experienced in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

The team are also looking forward to welcoming two new solicitors who are due to join them in May, including Charlotte Reynolds from the Clinical Negligence Team who has newly qualified as a solicitor.

Whilst life in the office can be busy, the team try to find the time for a monthly team lunch to sample the restaurants and cafes found around Whitchurch Road.

With such broad experience and knowledge, the Commercial, Regulatory and Procurement Team are well equipped to tackle the variety of queries that they receive from the health boards.
