Recently, we have welcomed our new Network 75 Students Annie Gauci, Elin Macken and Ellie Tarr. Read on to find out more about our new students and why they have chosen the Network 75 route to qualification:
"My name is Annie Gauci, I am a part of the Network 75 course. I have loved studying law since I decided to take it at A level. I have always been interested in the legal system and have also always enjoyed studying both the criminal aspect of law as well as the civil aspect of Law. I work at Legal and Risk alongside studying LLB Legal Practice in University of South Wales. I am part of the Personal Injury Claims team within Legal and Risk. I have chosen this specific course as it allows me to gain a law degree alongside the preparation for the SQE exam and provides me with invaluable experience on what a career within a law firm is really like. It also allows me to make great contacts and take part in networking experiences. I especially enjoy my role as it means that am I able to apply any academic knowledge I have into a hands-on role. The experience I can gain within my placement is amazing, it puts a lot into perspective and means that I understand more about what I am taught within my lectures. The Network 75 scheme is an amazing opportunity for anyone looking to study alongside work, it means that you can gain experience, work, and graduate within 5 years with no student debt!"
"Hiya! My name’s Elin and I’m currently in my first year here at NWSSP as a Network 75 Law student. I’m 19 years old and have lived in Cardiff my entire life. I chose a career in law because I’ve always been the type of person who likes to make a difference and fight for what is right. I devote a lot of my time to other people such as my family and friends. The reason I chose the Network 75 route over a standard full-time degree was due to the fact I am a very active learner and worker. I like to get stuck in and participate as much as I can and being able to work in a job that perfectly accompanies my studies was a no brainer for me! I’m loving it at NWSSP and I cannot wait to further embark on my journey to become a solicitor here, as well as meeting the rest of the lovely team!"
"Hi, I’m Ellie I am one of the Network75 students and currently working in Clinical Negligence, Client Team 1. I am really enjoying working here at NWSSP- legal and risk and have had so much support throughout these past 2 months. I was first interested in law when I was involved in a law workshop at my school, which I then followed my interest in law to study it at A-level and now gaining a degree in law which is amazing! Network75 was my ideal way of gaining a degree as it also provides me with the experience of working in a legal setting. It has been amazing working here alongside attending University and I’m looking forward to the next 5 years here!"
Our other Network 75 Students also had fantastic results in their exams in the Summer! Here is an update about how they are doing juggling their studies and work life:
Amy Bartlett
"I am very pleased to have passed my fourth-year exams of the Legal Practice Course (LLB), I managed to achieve firsts in the majority of my LPC modules which came as a great surprise considering the fourth year of the course was very tough. Whilst completing my fourth year, I sat 3 modules, along with 8 hours of work in the university’s Legal Advice Clinic per week and my normal part time job within Legal and Risk. It was very hard work at times, and I did sometimes find it hard to juggle the workload, but I enjoyed the experience and feel as though it helped with my personal and professional growth.
During my fourth year I have been working within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Clinical Negligence team. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time within the team and have once again gained a great deal of knowledge. I have experienced new opportunities and challenges within the team and taken them in my stride. They have been an extremely supportive team who have encouraged my development throughout my time with them.
In September, I will be going into my fifth and final year of my course. I will be re-joining the Commercial and Regulatory team which is the field of law I hope to work in once I start my career as a qualified lawyer. I am very much looking forward to it."

"I am elated to have passed the fourth year of my degree with an overall 2:1!
I faced new challenges this year after being introduced to the university’s legal clinic and taking on my own clients. The experience of dealing with various queries to help find solutions for people felt fundamental in fine tuning some of the skills I’d began to develop with Legal & Risk Services. I studied more of my LPC modules and saw some of my best exam results to date which has filled me with optimism for the last year of my degree.
It feels surreal to say that I’ll be going into my final year as a Network75 student and I’m very excited to see what this year will have in store."

"I am so happy to have passed the second year of my Legal Practice Exempting (LLB) degree with an overall 2:1!
This academic year has been very different to the previous year, as we were able to actually attend campus for our workshops instead of doing them virtually. It was nice to finally see people face to face and work in classrooms instead of through a screen.
I continue to surprise myself every year with how well I have been able to work given the circumstances we have all lived through these recent years. Although it has made it more difficult at times, it has taught me a new way of working and strengthened my independence and determination to succeed.
I am excited to begin my third year of university and to start studying my LPC modules, which will gave me a better insight into what certain areas of the law look like and how they function. I am sure the experience I have received working within Legal & Risk Services will put me in an advantageous position for certain modules, due to it providing me with some background knowledge and having the support from my amazing colleagues. I am looking forward to gaining insight into new areas of law that I have not yet been exposed to and hopefully progressing my knowledge and skills further."
Well done to all of our Network 75 students, everyone in Legal and Risk appreciates the hard work you do in our teams.
