We had a great turn out for our 4th Legal & Risk Development Day last week. We were lucky enough to have an opening address from Dr Andrew Goodall, Chief Executive of NHS Wales who commented on Legal & Risk as being “a key cog in the wheel of quality improvement in NHS Wales”, and said “It is important that we have our own capacity and expertise within the NHS... you discharge this role professionally and effectively”, a great compliment for the work already achieved by Legal & Risk.
Following Andrew was an NWSSP update from Andy Butler, NWSSP Director of Finance and Corporate Services, who reminded us that we are “the NHS Wales provider of choice”. He also said that we “provide high quality, efficient value based services”, and that “Extending your services has resulted in significant savings to the NHS in Wales”.
A workshop run by Alison Phillips and Rhiannon Windsor had us thinking more deeply about the way that we incorporate our corporate values in the work we do every day, and how we feel they could be further embedded going forward. Our thanks go to Fran O’Hara from Scarlett Designs who attended this session and captured our discussions around how we live our values. We can’t wait to see the final product!
The afternoon started with updates from some of our Teams discussing hot topics within each area of law and sharing best practice and lessons learnt, then an update on the changes to the SRA’s code of conduct from Paul Veysey, and rounded off the day with stress management training which included some insights on the way stress affects us emotionally and physically, and some top tips for stress management.
Though Anne-Louise wasn’t able to attend in person, she still delivered her closing remarks via video, summarising some of the themes of the day and encouraging everyone to get involved in our staff engagement group and our staff recognition scheme.
We look forward to more interesting talks at our next Development Day in the new year!
