Work Experience

Work Experience Vacation Scheme

Discover first-hand what life is like working for the NHS Wales in-house legal team.

Take part in our work experience vacation scheme and you will come away with a clear picture of our culture and values, as well as a good understanding of the day-to-day work of our various teams here at Legal & Risk Services.

In addition to presentations and interactive workshops, you’ll have an opportunity to speak to current paralegals and trainees, as well as some of our more senior colleagues, grow your understanding of exactly what we do and where we’re heading, develop valuable skills that will help set you up for your future career in law, and get some practical tips on applying for future jobs with us.

Key Information

The Scheme takes part over a 2-week period: week 1 will be 6th – 10th July 2026 and week 2 will be 13th – 17th July 2026. Each day will be 10am – 4pm.

Applicants will be able to undertake one week only: you can apply for either week, or apply for both weeks to increase your chances, but would need to commit to the entire week in question and be present for the duration of each day.

There will be a maximum of 10 students per week.

The Scheme is an in-person programme only and is based at our office in Companies House, Crown Way, Cardiff.

Applications are welcome from penultimate and final year (law or non-law) University students, graduates, and those considering a career change.

How to Apply

Applications can be made through the online form below. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2026 but we reserve the right to close applications earlier, depending on demand.

Applications will then be short-listed and you will be advised by the end of April if you have been successful (you may be invited to a remote informal interview by Microsoft Teams before a final decision is made).

If you have not heard anything by the end of April, you will have been unsuccessful but are welcome to re-apply for the 2027 Scheme.
