Procurement Services and Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory celebrate success in GO Awards

NWSSP Procurement Services and Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory has been formally recognised for the outstanding work undertaken by individuals and teams across NHS Wales as part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tireless work, innovation, extensive collaboration and partnership has seen the services win or deemed as Highly Commended in multiple categories by GO Awards Wales, the Welsh arm of the national GO Excellence in Public Procurement Awards in their national awards ceremony held on 29 April 2021.

GO Awards Wales celebrates the tireless work and endeavour that underpins the delivery of critical services; showcases the ingenuity that ensures public spend creates lasting social and economic benefit; and marks the work undertaken across procurement and procurement supply chains: whether to combat COVID-19 or deliver on the many other expectations of the citizens of Wales.

Recognition for the excellent work undertaken is as follows:

Winner: NHS Shared Service Partnership, Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory, Welsh Government, Industry Wales, National Procurement Service and Life Sciences Hub

Winner - Procurement Services Local Procurement Team- Cwm Taf University Health Board

Jonathan Irvine, Director- NWSSP Procurement Services said: “Once again, I am delighted to be able to congratulate my colleagues within Procurement Services for the richly deserved recognition they have received not only for their fantastic response to the COVID 19 pandemic but as part of our ongoing “business as usual” activity which is and will continue to support the NHS in the recovery period."

"The breadth of the recognition across central sourcing, frontline and logistics operations really demonstrates the strength in which exists within our Division. May I take this opportunity to again pass on my thanks to all the award recipients and to all of my colleagues for their continued endeavours across the service”.

"The astonishing speed with which CERET pulled together all of the key players enabled Wales to respond effectively and rapidly to the pressures surrounding PPE at the height of the pandemic. I am incredibly proud that SMTL staff were able to play such a key role in ensuring  that Welsh NHS staff had access to safe and effective PPE, as well as being able to support local industry."
