The Statutory Framework for NHS Wales has three components:
- Primary Legislation which is law made by the legislative branch of government This usually takes the form of acts of parliament.
- Statutory Instruments are made by the executive branch of government. Statutory Instruments must be authorised by primary legislation and conform to the boundaries it has laid down.
- Standing Orders which are the rules by which an organisation works and makes decisions.
