Lauren Hayes

Lauren studied LLB Law at the University of Chester and graduated in 2015. Lauren has also recently completed the LPC with the University of Law. Lauren joined Legal & Risk as a Paralegal in 2019 and is now a Trainee Solicitor in Client Team 2.

Before joining Legal & Risk, Lauren worked at a private firm in Liverpool but was on secondment at an NHS Trust for 2 years.

In her spare time Lauren enjoys baking and collects Disney ornaments.

Q1. Who are Legal & Risk Services?

Established by the Welsh Government in 1996, the NWSSP Legal & Risk Services is a team of In-House lawyers employed within the NHS Wales. The lawyers provide legal advice on a wide range of matters.

Q2. Who funds Legal & Risk?

Legal work related to the investigation and management of clinical claims is funded from the budget for health services in Wales. Payment is made for other work by the Health body in Wales which required it.

Q3. Why is advice sought on an in-house basis rather than using external Solicitors?

The advice required and provided is highly specialised and often particular to the NHS in Wales making it beneficial to use specialist, cost effective in house service.
