This year’s NWSSP Staff Recognition Awards was a busy and successful evening for Legal and Risk Services and the Welsh Risk Pool! With lots of our teams and colleagues nominated across the categories it was wonderful to see so many named as highly commended, runners-up and winners throughout the evening.
Our first mention of the evening came during the first award, where our GMPI Team were announced as runners-up for the Listening and Learning Award. A well-deserved recognition for this hard-working team who aim to provide the best service to our Primary Care colleagues across Wales. We didn’t need to wait long for our second accolade as our Staff Engagement Group were named winners of the same category! The group are a credit to the division, with members volunteering their own time to increase engagement and help improve the wellbeing of our staff.
Another fantastic announcement came when the PROMPT Wales Team of Welsh Risk Pool were named winners of the Working Together Award for their amazing work in delivering training to maternity teams to improve care and safety for mothers and babies across Wales. A wonderful acknowledgement of the team’s passion and commitment.
Health and wellbeing are very important at Legal and Risk Services and the Welsh Risk Pool, so we were thrilled when our Trainee Solicitor Alice Cooksey was announced as runner-up for the Health and Wellbeing Initiative. Alice has played an active part in promoting health and wellbeing since she started with Legal and Risk, founding the very popular Running and Hiking Club who regularly meet to visit some of the beautiful walks and trails across South Wales. Well done Alice, we appreciate everything you do for our division!
Our Communications Officer, Daisy Evans, was declared winner of the Welsh Language Culture Champion for her fantastic work encouraging our staff to embrace the Welsh language and integrate it into the services we offer. Daisy has worked closely with the Translation Services to ensure that all communications are delivered bi-lingually and the department is compliant with the Welsh Language Act. Llongyfarchiadau!
The evening continued with our Property Acquisitions, Disposal and Leases Team receiving a Highly Commended acknowledgement in the Team of Year category for their incredible commitment to their work shown over the pandemic. Arguably one of the busiest teams in Legal and Risk Services during this period, the team worked tirelessly providing legal support for the creation of field hospitals and vaccinations sites across Wales. We are so proud that the team have been recognised for the hard work and dedication they demonstrated to Legal and Risk Services and the whole of NHS Wales.
The Role Modelling, Diversity and Inclusion Award gave us another winner in our Paralegals and Trainees Team. This close-knit team meet regularly to support each other through their journey to qualification and has been a great help to many through what can often be a challenging time in their legal career.
A new category for this year, the Hidden Hero award, celebrates individuals who go above and beyond to demonstrate the NWSSP core values in their role every day. Legal and Risk Services and Welsh Risk Pool had five members of staff named as Highly Commended in this category: Gemma Cooper, Emma Jones, Aneurin Harrow, Louise Scott-Nichols and Jane Storey. An incredible example of how highly thought of these individuals are amongst their colleagues, we hope they now know how much we all appreciate them!
The final category of evening the was the Managing Director’s Star Awards, awarded to employees of the NWSSP for their outstanding contributions within the workplace. Our Welsh Risk Pool Midwife, Sarah Hookes, was award one of these star awards following a fantastic year which also saw her named as RCM Midwife of the Year. We are honoured to have Sarah as part of our team, thank you so much for your hard work!
For Legal and Risk Services and Welsh Risk Pool to receive so much recognition at these awards in a true reflection of the hard work our team members put into their roles every day, and a wonderful way to show our appreciation. We hope everyone enjoyed the awards, thank you to the Awards Team for organising a fabulous evening with fantastic entertainment throughout. We’re already looking forward to next year!
