Collaborative Bank Partnership

Collaborative Bank Partnership is hosted by Shared Services Partnership (NWSSP)

Collaborative Bank Partnership (CBP) is a collaborative arrangement between the Welsh NHS organisations under which NWSSP proposes to facilitate a staff bank and provide nursing staff to NHS Wales organisations in response to temporary or short-term staff shortages.

NHS Wales Shared Service Partnership (NWSSP) communicated its intention to launch the Collaborative Bank Partnership on 28\1\2020 following formal approval from the Shared Services Partnership Committee in December 2019. The pilot scheme launched in April 2020 for Registered Nurses at Swansea Bay University Health Board and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

The Collaborative Bank Partnership model evolves from the ‘home’ Health Board recruiting workers to its local bank and NWSSP facilitating the sharing of bank workers across NHS Wales with providing access to weekly pay. The solution allows gaps in nursing staff rosters to be filled by bank workers from local Health Board.

In addition to improving patient care, the proposed arrangement will bring additional benefits for nursing bank staff, including the functionality to electronically book shifts and the provision of weekly pay. This is in keeping with Collaborative Bank and Nurse Passport arrangements already available in NHS England.
