PROMPT (PRactical obstetric Multi-Professional Training) is an evidence based multi-professional training package for obstetric emergencies. It is associated with direct improvements in clinical outcomes through improvement in knowledge, clinical skills, and human factors. It has been associated with a 50% reduction in term babies born with a 5 min Apgar <7, 50% reduction in neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE) and a 100% reduction in permanent brachial plexus injuries after shoulder dystocia.
PROMPT is run by the PROMPT Maternity Foundation, a charitable organisation based in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, and has over 25 years’ experience in obstetric emergency training. For more information on PROMPT, please visit the PROMPT Maternity Foundation website here.
PROMPT is endorsed by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RCOG), Obstetric Anaesthetist's Association (OAA) and Royal College of Midwives (RCM).
