Manon Gwilym is a Principal Safety & Learning Advisor with the Welsh Risk Pool supporting the Consent to Examination and Treatment Improvement Programme. She is also a Clinical Law and Ethics Legal Advisor for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). An important part of this role is working alongside the Assistant Medical Director – Law and Ethics to provide strategic oversight and guidance to BCUHB on consent.
Manon worked in private practice as a Solicitor until 2004 when she joined the North West Wales NHS Trust (the Trust) as a Senior Investigating Officer. In that role she handled personal injury claims made against the Trust and oversaw the management of complaints and litigation, including clinical negligence claims. Manon has also dealt with statutory compliance for the Trust (which included implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005) and then implementation of the Putting Things Right Regulations for BCUHB.
Manon’s work base is in North Wales at NWSSP Alder House. She lives on Anglesey, is married and has two daughters. When she is not at work she enjoys singing in a local choir, horse riding, walking and spending time on the family farm.
