Helen Thomas-Bone currently works as the Senior Nurse of Professional Practice and Quality Assurance for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities within Hywel Dda University Health Board. Helen has experienced a varied career under the NHS umbrella working for many years in Commisioning Continuing Health Care, Funded Nursing Care and the Escalating Concerns process; she has worked as a Best Interest Assessor with overlapping knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act progressing, further to developing and leading on the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards service within HDUHB. Helen has also worked within clinical areas as a Ward Manager for Older Adult Mental Health services and within Service Improvement. Helen found her passion for patient safety throughout her career and cemented this by working as the Clinical Manager of an award-winning patient safety team reviewing care in general hospital services. This team scooped first prize for their innovative learning from events.
Helen is happily married with two children and has a personal interest in empowering parents of special educational needs children to access the support they need. Helen enjoys spending time with her family and dogs alongside good bottle of Malbec. Helen dreams of retiring to Majorca!
