Participant feedback is being collected to analyse the impact and areas for enhancing the programme based on the Kirkpatrick model. An average satisfaction rating of 9.2 out of 10 across all participating units has been achieved so far. Pre and post course subject knowledge and skills, and confidence, is self evaluated by participants and this is demonstrating improvements in each subject area as well as an enhanced understanding of human factors. The feedback highlights strong initial engagement and perceived value from those attending the training days.
We also conducted a baseline survey to assess neonatal staff perception and attitude on safety within their clinical environment using a validated Safety Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ). The intention is to repeat the SAQ approx. 12 months following implementation to evaluate the effectiveness of the programme in relation to staff attitudes on safety culture in their unit.
We have baseline clinical outcome data which will support the evaluation of the programme. Clinical outcome measures will include term APGAR score <5 at 10 minutes, term neonatal death and term admission to the neonatal unit.
A strategy document sets out a series of standards which incorporate process measures. These have been developed to support health boards to implement the programme as intended. These include the number of staff expected to participate in MoNET Wales as well as the maintenance of a multi-professional approach.
