Gemma Cooper

Gemma moved from Anglesey to study at Cardiff University for her LLB, LLM (Masters in Legal Aspects of Medical Practice) and Legal Practice Course.  After gaining these qualifications, she joined Legal & Risk Services in 2008 as a paralegal in the Personal Injury department.

She qualified as a Solicitor in 2011 and works in the Clinical Negligence department. She has a varied caseload including both complex and high value claims. She also specialises in claims against the Ambulance Service.  Gemma regularly represents Health Bodies at inquests and advises in respect of adverse incidents and investigations.

Gemma heads the Putting Thing Right team at Legal & Risk Services and sits on various Welsh Government and NHS Wales task and finish groups. The PTR team supports the whole of NHS Wales and was recently highly commended in the NWSSP Staff Awards.

In her spare time, Gemma enjoys reading, listening to music and cooking.  She has completed the Race for Life Pretty Muddy, Cardiff 10k and the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge for Velindre Cancer Centre.
